Building trust<\/strong> is said to be easier formed in office environments than in remote environments where people kind of automatically meet randomly and discuss anything non-work-related. I wonder is this really true? If we are working in the same company<\/strong> with common goals and challenges<\/strong>, discussing, doing teamwork, succeeding and failing, trust will happen through those encounters and collaboration moments. I don’t think that’s even so different as opposed to f2f working. I believe in positive thinking <\/strong>and that everything is possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we have shared and transparent values and culture<\/strong>, and we do our work well<\/strong>, trust will develop with time. Attitude<\/strong> is an important factor in this area too. Believe that trust can be reached, and it will. Work to achieve it. Managers and leaders have a lot of responsibility to make it happen. Like many other remote work aspects, this will need intentionality and commitment <\/strong>to work for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diving deeper into my remote work thesis<\/strong>, a few practical ways to build trust in<\/strong> remote teams according to some research papers are<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83e\udd29 HR functions: well-functioning employee\/team onboarding and training
\ud83e\udd29 Effective team composition and building
\ud83e\udd29 Functional and effective team support
\ud83e\udd29 Communication to make every team member feel engaged
\ud83e\udd29 Making sure team members are aware of informal news and the events happening in the organization
\ud83e\udd29 Taking care of the conflicts and resolving them
\ud83e\udd29 Recognizing the accomplishments and achievements
\ud83e\udd29 Providing access to the required information
\ud83e\udd29 Defining the mission of the team\u2019s projects and how they are connected to the mission of the organization
\ud83e\udd29 Defining the goals that should be achieved
\ud83e\udd29 Allocating responsibilities to each member of the team
\ud83e\udd29 Taking care of the personal needs of the team members
\ud83e\udd29 Conflict resolution
\ud83e\udd29 Rewarding the employees
\ud83e\udd29 Providing special training to ensure that employees are familiar with communication technology
\ud83e\udd29 Coping effectively with different time zones and cultural backgrounds of the team members
\ud83e\udd29 Recognizing an early stage of a conflict or a feeling of isolation of a team member
\ud83e\udd29 Organizing weekly meetings with each team member to provide feedback
\ud83e\udd29 Demonstrating great collaboration skills by leaders\/managers
\ud83e\udd29 Ensuring that every member takes part in the organization\u2019s life to avoid feelings of lack of belonging to a group
\ud83e\udd29 Providing trust-building team activities
\ud83e\udd29 Regular communication between team members
\ud83e\udd29 Creating a positive environment and organizational culture<\/p>\n\n\n\n
