Marjut Sadeharju<\/a> shared insights on LinkedIn about the flipped classroom<\/strong> model recently which made me think that the model is effective in meetings<\/strong> also. I didn’t even know there was the term “flipped meeting<\/strong>” until I searched for it \ud83d\ude03<\/p>\n

Many remote companies use flipped meeting practices<\/strong> to have effective and meaningful meetings<\/strong> and make use of async collaboration<\/strong> as a big part of the meeting culture. It is a good approach to F2F meetings too.<\/p>\n

What is the flipped meeting approach?<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a teacher, the flipped classroom<\/strong> is a familiar concept and is the basis for flipped meetings. In a flipped classroom, instructors give students lectures or readings as homework and dedicate class teaching time to assignments and practice problems. Although the subject is still taught in class, it is better spent on student coaching and guidance.<\/p>\n

In the flipped meetings model<\/strong> the meeting turns into a coworking session<\/strong> rather than a lecture.<\/p>\n

Flipped meetings are like preparing for a discussion ahead of time. Instead of talking about basic stuff in a meeting, you get the information in advance<\/strong> through videos, emails, or other ways. This way, when you meet in person or on video<\/strong>, you can have a deeper and more meaningful conversation<\/strong> because everyone already knows the basics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
