Many remote companies use flipped meeting practices to have effective and meaningful meetings and make use of async collaboration as a big part of the meeting culture. It is a good approach to F2F meetings too.
What is flipped meeting approach and what are the benefits of using it?
As a teacher, the flipped classroom is a familiar concept and is the basis for flipped meetings. In a flipped classroom, instructors give students lectures or readings as homework and devote class time to assignments and practice problems. Although the subject is still provided in class, it is better spent on student coaching and guidance.
In flipped meetings model the meeting turns into a coworking session rather than a lecture. Flipped meetings free up more meaningful face-to-face time by distributing one-way material in advance for people to ingest so that there may be a more in-depth conversation during a meeting (through video, email, screencasts, etc.).
