Gathering information about my remote work thesis I got interested in what details remote companies do publish about their hiring process, and what details are the ones that might be important to the job seeker.
There is a lot of variety in the details and IMO it’s crucial to have an informative and clear hiring/career page to make the process transparent for the person who seeks a job. This is a fact that can affect the competitiveness of the company in the battle of talented job seekers.
Some important details to include on the hiring/career page according to my research are for example:
๐๏ธ Hiring principles: transparency, inclusion, diversity, equal opportunity, etc.
๐๏ธ Steps in the hiring process: how many stages total (interviews, tests, etc.) and duration of the interviews
๐๏ธ What is the goal of each stage: initial meeting, culture, skills, technical, etc.
๐๏ธ With whom the interview takes place: hr manager, manager, CEO, etc.
๐๏ธ What tools do they use in the interview: Zoom/Teams, Slack, test/task, etc.
๐๏ธ Preparing for the interview
๐๏ธ Company culture and benefits
๐๏ธ And depending on the specific job: due date leaving the application, getting back, salary information, time zone, employment type: full-time, contract, etc.
A couple of no-gos in my opinion:
โ Too many clicks to find the needed information
โ Too many stages in the hiring process
โ Too long wait for the decision about the interview process or hiring – or no message to the candidate at all
โ Remote position isn’t quite fully remote
โ Manually typing all of your resume info again.
